Our History

Humble Beginnings

Colonial Construction Materials, Inc. was founded by Timothy Branin in 1988. Equipped with a few trucks and a small installation crew, Tim and his team started supplying and installing geotextiles and erosion control products to contractors in Virginia.

A few years later, Tim’s brother Tommy and his mother Nancy joined in, making Colonial Construction Materials a true family business.

A Developing Industry

Over time, Colonial Construction Materials expanded to meet the demands of an evolving industry. An increase in environmental regulation correlated to an increase in construction regulation, specifically related to stormwater runoff and erosion control. Construction permitting and site inspections became stricter and the demand for effective products to control silt and sediment increased.

Response to Industry Demand

In response, Colonial vertically integrated operations and began manufacturing site work products. Distribution expanded into new regions including into the Caribbean and northeast to Pennsylvania.
